Will You Marry Me?
Hey Ladies, it’s another day another chance!
Let’s take a look at John the Baptist for a moment…
“The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him and is full of joy when he hears the bridegrooms voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater, I must become less.”
Know Your Role
John knows his job, he also takes pride in and loves that job. John is happy to see when Jesus arrives to step into his role. John knows what he has to do in order for Jesus to step into that role…he must decrease.
Just like a woman about to get married her father has carried her through everything and yet as they walk down that aisle to the groom, the father hands her over to him. Although her father raised her and taught her, he now must become less.
We go through our lives doing what we have been taught and we come up with our own lifestyle eventually. But when Jesus comes to us it is our choice to step aside and lay down everything so that he can take his place where he is supposed to be in our lives. We must decrease, but first we must have joy like John said in verse 39 “that joy is mine and it is now complete”. We cannot truly be whole or complete without Jesus being on the throne of our entire being. We cannot become one unless we marry to Jesus’s standards.
Wait! What Does ‘Marry’ Mean?
The word marry has several definitions and we are familiar with one dealing with matrimony, however, another definition is to cause to meet or fit together, OR to meet or blend something.
So we need to marry to Jesus teachings, marry his character, marry everything Jesus exemplifies. The only way to completely blend ourselves with Jesus is for us to decrease. Daily, hourly, every moment, with joy understanding our job. Ladies…that job is to do his will.
And this is why I change…
